“We’re obsessed with detail. It’s the sum of all the tiny details that added up to the final experience. It’s things like 21 grams in 45 grams out that makes a tasty coffee. It’s things like specifying the beautiful 42mm Goodwood quarter cut Victorian Ash that ties a space together”
When you combine an architecture studio with a keen eye for detail and a client with a purpose to share quality coffee with patrons, you get an amalgamation of style, sustainability and high quality craftsmanship.
Lava is a cafe with one goal; to make delicious coffee and share it with others. Owner Lincoln Fairleigh started Lava with a vision to create a beautiful space that allowed customers to explore the sensory nature of coffee.
The cafe was thoughtfully designed by Bridget, Founder and Director of Avanti Design House (ADH). ADH focuses on ‘creating buildings and spaces that inspire, motivate and transform a positive movement in the building industry towards sustainability’.
The palette was minimalistic and the materials selected were tactile for the hospitality environment. Materials such as concrete, GoodWood Victorian ash and black matte lighting were used, deriving inspiration from Japanese and Scandanivan design.
185×42 GoodWood Victorian ash DAR was specified for the waffle screening and complimentary joinery. All coated in Osmo Oil’s Polyx Matte to add additional warmth to the natural blonde of the timber.
GoodWood Victorian ash is commonly used for joinery because of it’s consistency in grain and colour, sustainability and availability. Take a look at the GoodWood joinery options here.
