Australian Sustainable Hardwoods (ASH) is a privately-owned, Australian timber mill and manufacturer. Established over 30 years ago, ASH has grown to become one of the largest hardwood mills in Australia; and Australia's largest hardwood timber manufacturer.
Utilising automation and economy of scale, ASH operates 13 on-site manufacturing lines to add value to our timber, from log to finished product. These include moulding, laminating, finger-jointing, deep splitting, set length docking and mass-timber production. Our range of timber species includes Australian Oak, American Oak and Plantation Oak.
What sets ASH apart is our unwavering commitment to compliance, ethical practices and sustainability.
We are proud to be a trusted Australian manufacturer with an unwavering commitment to ethical, sustainable and verified practices. We ensure there is less room for ambiguity by providing credible third-party evidence to support our claims.
In an ever-expanding landscape of unrestricted expression, here at ASH, we take pride in demonstrating our commitment through tangible actions rather than mere words. We back our claims passionately and seriously.
Manufacturing at ASH thrives from the perfect combination of innovation, technology and adaptiveness
ASH is unlike any other timber manufacturer in Australia. Our commitment to innovation and quality is what makes our products so recognisable in the market. Over the past 30 years, we have developed our Heyfield site in regional Victoria to now run an impressive 13 different manufacturing lines.
We have over 3,000 different profile offerings in timber product ranges including mass timber, advanced timber composite flooring, benchtops and panels, mouldings and architraves, lining, windows and doors, staircase components, cladding, DAR and sawn, external profiles and the first and only Australian-made, pre-finished engineered timber flooring.
They don’t call timber the most environmentally-friendly building material for nothing
Here at ASH, we are fully committed to sustainability and we don’t like to do things half-hearted. This means we source timber from regrowth forests and 100% of each log received is used.
It’s important that we source our timber from certified, regrowth forests to ensure the best practices in sustainable harvesting are adhered to. But what makes our timber so extraordinarily unique is its ability to capture carbon from the atmosphere and store it for life in an attractive building material.
The health, safety and wellness of all our staff are indispensable to the ASH operations
ASH is dedicated to the health, safety and wellness of our employees, contractors and stakeholders. We are the only Australian timber manufacturer and sawmill certified to ISO 45001 and ISO 14001. These certifications ensure ASH complies with WHS (Work Health and Safety) laws and creates a safe workplace.
Our Health, Safety and Wellness policy promotes all employees and contractors to be safe and health-conscious at work and to encourage these behaviours to spread into their activities outside of the workplace.
