The Space

The Bond house and studio is bold, bright and making a statement. Inspired by industrial architecture, the design celebrates the juxtaposition between pronounced colours and warmth from timber.

“the response was to incorporate a home and a separate studio on a narrow footprint and amplify the sense of light and space whilst allowing a continuity of materials across both structures”

Designed by Adelaide locals design3, the Bond House and Studio encapsulates Port Adelaide’s rich history and industrial influence. The house honours both the old and the new, doing so by the central courtyard, leading the way to the new home via a 100 year old baltic pine stair case opening up to a vertical living space reminiscent of the south lit industrial sheds of the port.

“Acknowledging the industrial history of the area, materials here include exposed concrete, perforated corten panels, exposed timbers and structure, and a focus on locally sourced and recycled products” – design3.

With locally sourced products in mind, the Bond House and Studio used SUPASPAN ‘seen-structural’ columns and AUSTRALIAN OAK engineered flooring to complete the new domain. Both complimenting each other seamlessly, the structural columns elongates the space whilst adding warmth. AUSTRALIAN OAK engineered flooring in the colour ‘30% black’ creates a foundation for the blonde timber and lime green accents.

To get the perfect floor (like Design3) to suit your decor, choose the size, grade, texture, colour and finish – options here. Or for more seen structural products, visit our SUPASPAN page.

“The SUPASPAN columns and Australian Oak engineered flooring were chosen because they’re local, sustainable materials. We found Victorian ash to be a beautiful and consistent Australian timber that offers flexibility, durability and strength”
