GoodWood throughout the Torquay House by Leyer

/ By Leyer Design Studio

The Space

This is the Scandinavian beach home of your dreams - it's light, airy and unbelievably beautiful.

LEYER DESIGN STUDIO

“Inspiration was taken from the surrounds, if you look closely at the coastline in this region, the colours of the limestone cliffs and beaches in their different lights influenced the colour palette”

The Torquay House is the ultimate beach side sanctuary, designed and built by husband and wife duo Damien and Rebecca Leijer. Leyer Design Studio was conceptualised from the couple’s passion for Australian contemporary design. “Our family home completely encapsulates everything that we are and that we love, its our brand, our creativity combined and the results of a dream collaboration” as added by Rebecca.

The space is open, airy and everything you’d want when living on the Great Ocean Road. The dynamic pair wanted to evoke a feeling of comfort, relaxation and a family foundation – which was ultimately achieved in this beautiful space.

Inspired by New Zealand and Scandinavian homes, the home boasts a muted colour palette using materials like warm timber, terracotta bricks and greyed off cladding. The design drew on different timbers, including the grey washed red western cedar ceiling and wall lining and GoodWood Victorian ash bench seat, kitchen island and vanities.

GoodWood is commonly used in Scandinavian inspired designs due to its clean grain and consistent blonde colour, making it the perfect base for a white washed coating. Find out more about GoodWood here.

“I believe timber has an unmatched aesthetic and softness… the colours and patterns you get in the grain is something you cannot manufacture”
