The Space

The effect timber can have on a space is unmeasurable. Its connection to nature adds a warmth and attractiveness that no other building material can. These statements are clearly justified in the Harry House – a beautiful and cosy Melbourne home that is innately inviting from every angle.

ARCHIER

“Instead of a plasterboard box full of functional spaces, the brief asked for pragmatic poetry, giving new rhythm to the family”

Designed by the renowned team at Archier, the Harry House ticks all the boxes in our eyes. Archier is a Melbourne based studio that ‘create design experiences that contribute to a better quality of life’. They pride themselves in being a holistic practice that does not focus on specific sectors, but on the merits of each individual project.

The Harry House was a classic Coburg suburban home that screamed ordinary. The brief was to transform this typical home into a space that represented the client’s Japanese heritage.

Straight and stable Victorian ash hardwood was used in a multitude of applications throughout the home. “[the Harry House] is now a modern treehouse, with rounded timber detailing, connected spaces and raw appeal” – Archier.

ARCHIER

“The project used Victorian ash for the window and door frames, wall lining (both lining boards and round profile), timber battens, ceiling beams, shelving, joinery fronts and hand rails”

Harry House is the ultimate example of how GoodWood Victorian ash is the perfect hardwood that can be matched throughout an entire space. It not only ticks the boxes for sustainability, product availability and attractiveness, but it is also extremely practicable and affordable.
