The Space

GoodWood features throughout flexible learning spaces designed for students at St Clare's Primary School to learn and grow.

ROAM ARCHITECTS

“Our strategy was to place the new building to the east of the two existing wings, creating a courtyard which provides weather protection to the existing outdoor play areas”

Located in the growing suburb of Officer in Melbourne’s south-east, St Clare’s Primary School underwent it’s third stage of development which allowed for six new learning areas designed to accommodate year 5 & 6 students. Following from the prior stages, the addition includes two specialist learning centres, a courtyard, flexible learning area, and a space that can be used for art, library, resource & multi-media functions.

Roam Architects were the creators of this educational space. With a portfolio including schools, new build houses & residential refurbishments, the practice prides themselves on a focus of creating ‘well designed [spaces that] enhance the quality of life for the occupants’.

To bridge the outdoors in, the learning centres feature an organic colour palette, large windows and doors allowing for natural light and timber lined nooks, furniture and joinery made using GoodWood.

GoodWood is our range of Victorian ash and Tasmanian Oak, sustainably sourced and manufactured at our world class facility in Heyfield. Pair that with astounding beauty, design versatility and incredible durability, and it’s no wonder why GoodWood is a popular material choice throughout commercial and residential spaces. “We selected Victorian ash for its soft, natural tones which complimented the overall interior colour scheme. As a practice we believe it is very important to integrate natural materials into school environments and Victorian ash ticked all of the boxes”
