The Space

Seamless GoodWood battens flow throughout the Profile Group Hautapu Manufacturing Facility to create a calming work environment for employees.

Jasmax

“Designed as a sculpture in the landscape, the new flagship Profile Group Hautapu Manufacturing Facility provides a strikingly simple and elegant response to the challenge of designing infrastructure of enormous scale.”

Profile Group, a collection of businesses that form New Zealand’s only integrated aluminium supply chain for window and door solutions, has a new 49,000m2 office and manufacturing facility in Hautapu. The brief was to elevate Profile Group’s brand and provide transparency with a flagship facility designed to accommodate business growth and set a benchmark for sustainable industrial development.

The space was brought to life by third-generation architecture and design practice, Jasmax. With over 50 years of experience, Jasmax have ‘been at the forefront of bicultural and sustainable design in the Pacific’. The perfect choice to execute a sustainable inspired design for Profile Group.

Simple materials paired with an open design fosters the soft and inviting atmosphere. Sculptform’s Click-on Battens were used to create a seamless connection between the wall and ceiling screening. With Sustainability in mind, 100% PEFC certified GoodWood Victorian ash was the timber of choice.

On a holistic level, our Victorian ash is one of the best options once you include carbon sequestration, life cycle analysis, harvesting and regeneration. While this project uses Victorian ash, GoodWood is now a combination of Victorian ash and Tasmanian Oak to give architects a blonde, quarter sawn option for applications like staircase components, joinery, furniture, lining, flooring, benchtops and external profiles.
