The Space

House 1503 is simple and gentle. Its transformation was to express light and warmth, something that was clearly achieved for the family within.

OLAVER ARCHITECTURE

“I was excited by the challenge of building a box… For me, it’s about function over everything else, but also feeling and what it means for the user experience”

The creative minds behind House 1503 is none other than the team at Olaver Architecture. Working collaboratively with the family of four, the design team elevated the current house and built a rear addition that is sustainable, cost effective and low maintenance. Olaver Architecture ‘is an architectural practice that pursues excellence in design and approach. Overall working towards creating a better built environment; actively, ecologically, practically and aesthetically’.

Externally, House 1503 presents a timber and cement structure. Yet within the four walls is a relaxed, minimalist design incorporating light as much as possible. The initial ‘box’ structure was softened by the exposed beams and curved bench.

House 1503 portrays modern design, incorporating sustainability and creativity that results in a beautiful home. Materials like concrete, timber and cork were all used to achieve this.

Goodwood Victorian ash veneers were used both in the kitchen and bathroom. A popular choice for the Olaver team, having used GoodWood in their House 1702 as seen here.

OLAVER ARCHITECTURE

“For us, every project is an opportunity to contribute in a positive and generous way to the social and built fabric of our cities”

Why do architects like Olaver use Goodwood time and time again? The answer is consistency.

When specifying GoodWood, you know you’re getting high quality, quarter sawn Victorian ash all coming from the same processing line in Heyfield. ASH prides itself on its quality assurance like internal scanning, straight line edging and automated laminating lines operated by highly trained staff that can dock out any unwanted characteristics – a job a machine cannot do.
