The Space

The recently upgraded Carlton Learning and Community Hub has seen an incredible transformation from a 99 student facility to a space suitable for 475 pupils.

“the creation of a built form to positively respond and engage with its urban environment was key in transforming the school’s identity and fostering connections with the immediate and broader community”

Law Architects were selected to design this three storey extension to include an integrated Early Learning Centre, Family Services Centre and Community Hub. Law Architects are a medium sized Melbourne practice that deliver a full scope of services, including projects for institutions, schools, government departments and commercial organisations.

“We believe we must design buildings that, once built, will then grow” – Law Architects.

The design palette takes elements of Scandinavian design like block pastels and blonde timber tones. The Carlton Learning and Community Hub used a 190×15 board with a 4 mm wear layer, coated in a ‘natural’ LED-cured coated for long-lasting durability in a high traffic area.

Not only is Australian Oak an attractive, high quality engineered flooring, it also uses a revolutionary LED-cured hardwax oil that is extremely durable and unbeatable when it comes to maintenance. Customers have the ability to even customise their pre-finished, commercial timber floor to match any design. What does this mean for you? That the options are limitless at our Melbourne coating line.

“Australian Sustainable Hardwoods were selected specifically for their Australian Oak engineered flooring because it offered an Australian hardwood product at a reasonable price. Our office always prefers to use local/native timbers instead of imported products as they inherently have a lower carbon footprint as well as it supports local industry”
